August 2009-- World Travels Part III

Adam backpacked in the High Sierra's east of Bishop California with his scout troop.

July 2009 -- World Travels Part II

While Jane was off to India, Adam and I took a trip too...

We rolled our bikes to the Air Canada counter at LAX and checked them aboard for Paris, France!

We wheeled our bikes out to the curb at Charles de Gaulle, hitched on our panniers, and rode from the airport straight into...

The City of Lights!

After a couple days, we took off into the countryside.

The spires of Chartres Cathedral.

We tried to escape the rain though it got us almost every day.

Chambord in the Loire Valley.

We rarely got lost on the lovely and well marked French roads.

Chenenceaux.

Two Horses: Adam has a favorite new car.

And a lovely glove tan circle.

He chugged Nutella - and didn't feel so good afterward.

The American military cemetary at Omaha Beach in Normandy moved us.

As did the French countryside.

Le Mont St. Michel.

We ended the trip back in Paris, seeing some sights we didn't get to see the first few days.

And on our last day, we got to see the last stage of the Tour and cheer on Lance, Alberto, Schleck, Pelizotti, Cavendish and all the others.

It was a once-in-a-lifetime trip that I would like to do every summer.

Jane and Sammy went to India with Matt and Natalie Hanson to volunteer for Rising Star Outreach, a program to provide service in the the Leprosy colonies, including the education of colony children in a safe, healthy environment.

And they had some fun along the way too...

He's moved way beyond sushi.

May 2009 -- What the World Needs

More chocolate on chins.

April 2009 -- Part IV -- Ruth is 9 and Julia is 12

Julia and Ruth share the same birthday...

So we kidnapped them both from school.

There were presents waiting in the car.

Then off to Disneyland for the rest of the day with the family.

A few days later Julia had a party in the park with her friends. They loved the human sling-shot game,

and the cup cake cones.

Ruth celebrated her 9th birthday with a trail ride to Dripping Cave in Wood Canyon. They heard the story of the Dripping Cave Bandit, found his treasure map, and located hidden treasure all over the Canyon.
